Is F2 the same as Fadd9?
Yes. Both names describe an F major chord (F, A, C) with an added G. "2" and "9" refer to the same note counted at two different octaves, and the choice between the two names is a convention that depends on the chart, not a difference in the chord itself.
Is F2 the same as Fsus2?
No, even though the names look related. F2 keeps the major 3rd (A) and adds a G on top. Fsus2 removes the major 3rd entirely and replaces it with that same G. They share a note but not a sound, and they are fingered differently on the guitar.
Do I need to mute the low strings when I play F2?
Yes, for the compact four-finger version.
